The spirit of July 4th was alive and strong in the village this Sunday afternoon. After a year of being isolated and living in constant apprehension, it didn’t seem like anything was going to hold back the opportunity to celebrate Americas’ birthday. It showed on the faces and body language of the gang that gathered. This day really felt like a hometown celebration.
A lighthearted sense of anticipation filled the streets as well as a feeling of reprieve from the pandemic storm we all just faced. Dancing, mingling, and camaraderie were shared by all. Children and adults alike radiated with the feeling of common closeness. It was a joy to be part of.
If you couldn’t be there in person, I uploaded a 30-minute movie that, I hope, captured the essence of the whole day in the village.
Happy birthday America!
